AFTER THE WORKSHOP in Two Dot, MT

What a fun group of characters came together at the Top Hat Ranch of the  McFarland/White Ranch!  A FEW HIGHLIGHTS: Our two reps from the male perspective were nicknamed Kid Murphy and Cody Bob.  They were good sports even though outnumbered by headstrong, shower-hogging, irreverent ladies!  The meals were fabulous! (First rule on the ranch - "Don't piss off the cook!")  Duke the handsome equine model was so popular that most of the ladies wanted to hold him rather than draw!  In the background was Joey, my dachshund, hamming to the hilt.   On the prairie, we startled a mama bear with two cubs.  We watched them run for cover and climb a tree. Sandhill cranes serenaded us near the Top Hat Ranch house.  On top of all that . . . . art books, art talk, evening campfire, full moon, total immersion with no distractions.  We all left the Top Hat feeling exhausted but smiling, anxious to take the experience home and determined to PAINT ON!

We are making plans for a SECOND ANNUAL TWO DOT WORKSHOP, let me know if you're interested.

YELLOWSTONE PAINTERS FEATURED IN BIG SKY JOURNAL

The recent article "Plein Air Yellowstone" in the BIG SKY JOURNAL, Arts 2010, is on the newsstands.  In the heat of August, what a treat reading about our winter painting trip.  Artist and organizer of the trip, Aaron Schuerr also proved his multi-talents by writing the article.  Well done!  I am honored to be among that fine group of talent:  Brent Cotton, Kathy Wipfler, David Slonim, Greg Scheibel, Ned Mueller, and Aaron Schuerr.  Then to have the very fine photographer, Audrey Hall, alongside documenting our experience, was icing on the cake.  What a fun bunch of rascals we were!
